Gemini Grabtac Carpet Tile Tackifier Spray Adhesive

Gemini Grabtac Carpet Tile Tackifier Spray Adhesive is a fast drying, high tack tackifier adhesive. Originally developed for bonding carpet tiles to a wide range of substrates including wood, metal, concrete, plywood, metal access floors and screed finished floors. The bulk aerosol system has no wastage and has proved to be seven times fast than the traditional trowelling of adhesives.
GRAB-TAC has also proven to be popular with a wide range of industries for other single sided applications such as Upholsters for fabrics, foams and textiles used on seating backs and bases, HVAC installations for Insulation and Fibre securing and under floor heating installers. Application

All substrates to be bonded should be conditioned at room temperature prior to application. Surfaces should be dry, clean and dust free. If applying the adhesive directly onto concrete or sand or cement based screeds, they must be fully cured and laitance free. If applying to earth based subfloors an efficient damp proof membrane must be incorporated and site conditions must comply with British standards CP 102(Code of practice for protection of building against water from underground), BS 5325 (Installation of textile floor coverings) and all supplementary publications must be followed throughout the installation.
Holding the gun parallel to the work surface and apply an even coat of adhesive aiming for 80% – 100% coverage to achieve the perfect bond. Do not allow the adhesive to puddle or concentrate in one area. For a high tack forced releasable bond please allow the adhesive to touch dry with no transference to your fingers before laying your floor covering onto the adhesive. Repositioning is possible without damaging the substrate or bond. For a more permanent bond you can lay your floor covering into the adhesive immediately, whilst wet. to enhance the permanent bond you can apply the adhesive to both substrates which are being bonded and the grabtac will act as a contact adhesive. IMPORTANT – It is the users responsibility to ensure that the chosen Grabtac product is suitable for the application before use. Please Note – some PVC backed carpet tiles may require a waterbased adhesive to avoid plasticiser migration.

Troubleshooting:

NEVER TURN THE CANISTER OFF UNTIL READY TO CONNECT TO A NEW CANISTER. TURNING IT OFF PREMATURELY COULD RESULT IN THE HOSE AND GUN BECOMING BLOCKED.

If the gun will not spray:

• Check the valve is turned on at the canister
• Make sure the gun wheel is wound open
• Using a spanner, remove the large front nut which secures the brass spray tip in place
• With the spray tip removed, attempt to spray the gun
• If the glue sprays, your brass tip is blocked. Please clean with Citrus cleaner and replace, or fit a new spray tip
• If there is still no flow, you have a blockage in your hose, usually caused by turning off the canister prematurely or not using the product for an extended period of time. Please contact us for guidance on how to safely remove your hose from the canister.

Spluttering or inconsistent spray pattern?

• Turn off the valve on the canister and by pulling the trigger on the gun, drain off any product in the hose.
• If your canister is cold, and been subjected to temperatures of below 15c please acclimatise the canister before turning back on. Please click here for more information on cold weather and storage.(link to cold weather page)
• Once your canister is at the optimum temperature, turn the canister on and pull the trigger on the gun to release a fresh flow of adhesive.
• Your spray pattern should now be working perfectly. If the problem still remains, please contact us for further advise.
• PLEASE NOTE – Using your canister with an inconsistent spray pattern can cause imbalances in the canister and may have negative effects on our your final bond.
